The Kadampuliyur police arrested one person and launched a search for three others for allegedly assaulting a woman after tying her to a tree at Nellithope in the district. The incident occurred on August 30 and went viral on social media platforms.
Police said the prime accused Anuradha along with her sisters Jayachitra, Jayanti and their mother Chinnayaal allegedly assaulted their aunt Selvarani, 55, after she questioned them for attempting to build a house on a disputed land.
As many as 21 cents of land belonged to Chinnayaal’s husband Vaithianathan and his siblings Singaravel and Ramar. The land was not demarcated between the three families and Chinnayaal attempted to build a house.
When Selvarani protested against the move, Chinnayaal and her daughters assaulted her after tying her to a tree. Following a complaint lodged by Selvarani’s daughter, the police booked a case against them under Sections 296 (b), 115 (2), 118 (1), 351 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
